Milken Community High School Performing Arts Teacher Kelly Shepard Wins 2015 Jewish Educator Award

Los Angeles, CA

“I love being wowed by kids. And it happens all the time,” said performing arts instructor Kelly Shepard as he accepted his $15,000 2015 Jewish Educator Award from the Milken Family Foundation. Shepard has led the performing arts program at Milken Community High School for 17 years and has developed one of Los Angeles’s finest performing arts programs.

Shepard got his surprise award during a schoolwide assembly, ostensibly held to celebrate the Jewish high holy days. The announcements were made by Milken Family Foundation Executive Vice President Richard Sandler and BJE: Builders of Jewish Education Executive Director Dr. Gil Graff.
